Claude's free mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, listed as "Claude by Anthropic", offer chat, voice mode, dictation, camera and photo input, and links to phone apps such as Maps, Messages and Calendar.
The Claude app is free on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS 18 or later and on Google Play for Android 8.0 or later, both listed as "Claude by Anthropic", and it works on every plan. It carries the same chats, projects and memory as the web and desktop apps, and adds what a phone does best: voice mode, dictation, photos from the camera, widgets, and access to phone apps such as Maps, Messages and Calendar. A few things are missing on mobile, among them exporting data, sharing chats and the "Reset for free" limit button.

Voice mode and dictation
Voice mode, a beta on all plans, is a spoken two-way conversation that Anthropic says is "built to work best from your phone". Start it with the sound-wave icon; it runs hands-free by default or push-to-talk, with a small set of preset voices. It can use connected tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and Slack (one tool on Free), saves a transcript to the chat, and counts toward your usage limits. Fable models are not available in voice mode. An update Anthropic showed on Oct 29, 2026 made voice mode quicker to respond and, on iPhone, usable through Apple CarPlay (Claude's new mobile app updates are here). Dictation, which only turns speech into text, works on all plans in English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian (Use dictation on Claude Mobile). Unlike ChatGPT, Claude's help center describes no video or camera sharing during voice (Use voice mode).
Camera, photos and files
You can take a photo or pick one from the library and ask about it; images go through the same upload limits as on the web (Upload files to Claude). On iOS, the "Analyze Photo with Claude" control and the "Ask Claude" App Intent reach Claude from Spotlight, Siri, the Share menu and Shortcuts (Use Claude app intents, shortcuts, and widgets on iOS). Claude creates Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files on mobile as on the web (Create and edit files), and interactive apps from connectors render on iOS and Android since Mar 25, 2026.
Phone apps and health data
On iOS, Claude can use Messages, Mail, Calendar, Maps, Reminders and your location on every plan; Health data is a beta that needs Pro, Max or Ultra and works in the US only. Team and Enterprise members get no location tool. On Android, health and fitness data needs Health Connect and Android 14 or later (Release notes, Jan 12, 2026). Both platforms have home-screen widgets (Claude Mobile apps collection).
Working with your computer from the phone
On Pro, Max, Ultra and Team, you can start tasks from your phone that run on Cowork in the cloud or on a paired desktop; Enterprise can opt in (Claude overview). Remote Control sends coding tasks from the phone to a Claude Code session on your computer (Download Claude), and Claude Code itself runs in the iOS and Android apps (Claude Code overview). Claude Duet, Anthropic's proactive assistant, is a separate standalone app for iOS and Android in research preview (Claude Duet).
What the mobile apps cannot do
- Export your data: "It's not possible to run an export from Claude for iOS or Android."
- Share a chat: sharing is not in the mobile app yet, though anyone can view a shared chat on a phone (Share a chat with specific people).
- Use a "Reset for free" limit reset (Limit resets).
- Turn on usage credits, even for a plan bought in the app; that happens on the web (Manage usage credits).
- Use your connectors in Research: research started on mobile searches only the web (Use research on Claude).
- Reach files and apps on your computer, which needs the desktop app.
Subscribing in the app
Tap your initials, then "Upgrade to Pro", and pay through the App Store or Google Play (iOS; Android). Anthropic says mobile pricing "may vary depending on your app platform" and does not publish the store prices. A subscription bought in the app is managed and invoiced by Apple or Google (Understanding your plan invoices), and promotions and coupons do not apply to it (Why is a coupon or promotion not available?). Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. In some US states, the app blocks users whom the App Store or Play Store marks as under 18 (Minimum age requirement). Is the Claude app free? Yes. The Claude app for iPhone, iPad and Android is free to download and works on the Free plan; paid plans can be bought in the app.
Is there an official Claude app for Android? Yes. The official Claude app is "Claude by Anthropic" on Google Play, package com.anthropic.claude, for Android 8.0 or later.

Can I export my Claude data from the app? No. Claude data exports run only on the web or Claude Desktop, not in the iOS or Android app.
Does deleting the Claude app cancel my subscription? No. Deleting the Claude app does not cancel a paid plan; cancel in the app's billing settings or the App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
