Claude Slides and Docs

Claude Slides drafts presentation decks from a file or conversation and exports them to PowerPoint, Google Slides or PDF; Claude Docs is a shared document that you and your team write with Claude. Both arrived in every Claude conversation on Sep 16, 2026 and are included on every plan, including Free.

To make a presentation with Claude, ask for a deck in any conversation, or start one from the Artifacts tab: Claude Slides drafts it from your file or the conversation, you edit slides directly or by asking, and you export it to PowerPoint, Google Slides or PDF (Artifacts, read Nov 6, 2026). Claude Docs is the document counterpart: a shared, live document that you, your colleagues and Claude write together, with charts that refresh from connected data. Both came to every conversation on Sep 16, 2026, alongside Claude Design, and both are included on every plan, Free too (Plans and pricing, read Nov 6, 2026). They are kinds of Artifacts, so they live in the Artifacts tab and count toward your usage limits.

How to make a presentation with Claude Slides

  1. In a Claude conversation, ask for a deck and attach the source: a report, a spreadsheet, notes, or data from a connector such as Salesforce. You can also start from the Artifacts tab.
  2. Claude drafts the slides. Anthropic's example is a 10-slide quarterly business review with one chart per slide, built from Salesforce data (Artifacts, read Nov 6, 2026).
  3. Edit a slide directly on the canvas, leave a comment for Claude, or ask for changes in the conversation.
  4. Export to PowerPoint or PDF, or send it to Google Slides as an editable file.

Anthropic says PowerPoint and PDF exports keep their formatting (Live dashboards and animated explainers, Oct 8, 2026). Slides was split out of Claude Design so that deck-making would be easier to find; a deck can still pick up your brand from a design system set up in Claude Design. If you work in PowerPoint itself, the add-in on Claude for Microsoft 365 edits decks there instead, and Claude for Google Workspace does the same in Google Slides.

How Claude Docs works

A Claude Doc is written by you and Claude at the same time: Claude drafts sections, asks you questions and comments on its choices, and teammates can co-edit the same document (Artifacts, read Nov 6, 2026). It can embed interactive charts, diagrams and graphs from connected tools and databases, which Claude refreshes when asked. Anthropic's examples are an onboarding guide built from Google Drive files that keeps one link as it updates, a spec drawn from a Notion roadmap and requested through Claude Tag in Slack, and a campaign brief that pulls Asana and Amplitude data.

Sharing works like a shared office document. A Doc is private until you invite people one by one or as a group, with view or edit access, or open it to your organization or to anyone with the link. Everyone who views or edits needs a Claude account. On Team and Enterprise, link sharing outside the organization stays off until an Owner or Primary Owner turns on External sharing in Organization settings > Artifacts.

Claude Docs is a document in Claude, not a Word file. For a .docx or .pdf to download, ask Claude to create the file instead, which File Creation covers.

Editing on a phone

Docs and decks can be edited in the Claude mobile app as well as on the web and desktop (Live dashboards and animated explainers, Oct 8, 2026).

Plans and status

Claude Slides and Claude Docs are on every plan, from Free to Enterprise (Plans and pricing, read Nov 6, 2026). On Enterprise they turned on by default on Oct 15, 2026, except for HIPAA-enabled organizations; admins can also turn them on or off in Organization settings > Artifacts (Artifacts). Enterprise artifacts support customer-managed encryption keys, and admins choose which artifact templates their organization can use.

Anthropic's pages differ on whether they are still beta. The Sep 16, 2026 release notes called them beta on Enterprise, and the newer Oct 8, 2026 post says Docs, Slides and Design are out of beta (Live dashboards and animated explainers). The help article on the merged Claude experience still calls them beta and says paid plans (Claude Cowork and chat are one Claude, read Nov 6, 2026). The pricing page, read Nov 6, 2026, lists both for Free.

Limits

A full deck or long document takes more of your allowance than a typical message (Claude Design, read Nov 6, 2026). Free accounts have the smallest allowance, so a large deck may run into the Free plan's limit; Claude Pro and above give more. For live, refreshing charts of business data, Anthropic offers a separate beta, covered on Claude Dashboards and Motion.
